Location: St. Agatha, Ontario (on-site at children’s residence and office)

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Compensation: $26.00 - $35.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications

Shifts: Rotating Shifts - Days (7:00 am - 3:00pm), Afternoons (3:00pm - 11:00pm), Nights (11:00pm - 7:00am), including weekends and holidays.

About the Role

The Child and Youth Worker is a core front line role responsible for providing safe, trauma informed, relationship based care to children and youth living in our home. Working as part of an interdisciplinary team, you will support young people with their daily routines, emotional and behavioural regulation, life skills, and recreational activities in a structured, therapeutic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day to day supervision, support, and engagement to children and youth in the residence.

  • Implement individual plans of care and behaviour support strategies as directed by the Lead Child and Youth Worker and Clinical Director.

  • Support daily living activities, including meals, homework, hygiene, bedtime routines, and recreation.

  • Use trauma informed, strengths based approaches to help youth regulate emotions, manage conflict, and build coping skills.

  • Participate in crisis prevention and intervention, including use of a ministry approved physical intervention program as a last resort when required for safety.

  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation including logs, incident reports, and progress notes.

  • Communicate effectively with team members during shift handovers and team meetings.

  • Follow all policies related to health and safety, child protection, confidentiality, medication administration (if applicable), and incident reporting.

  • Contribute to a clean, safe, and welcoming environment in the home

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Service Work, Social Work, Psychology, or a closely related human services discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.

  • Experience working with children and/or youth in residential, community, school, or mental health settings.

  • Strong understanding of child and adolescent development, trauma-informed practice, and behaviour management.

  • Demonstrated ability to build trusting relationships with youth while maintaining professional boundaries.

  • Solid verbal and written communication skills and basic computer/documentation skills.

  • Mandatory Requirements

  • Valid First Aid & CPR Level C (or willingness to obtain prior to start).

  • Successful completion of a valid Broad Sector Check.

  • Successful completion of a Child Welfare Check.

  • Crisis intervention / behaviour management training (or willingness to complete upon hire).

  • Ability to work a rotating schedule that includes days (7–3), afternoons (3–11), nights (11–7), weekends, and holidays.
