Job Title: Child and Youth Worker (Casual/Relief)
Organization: Willow Harbour Children’s Residence
Location: St. Agatha, Ontario (on-site at children’s residence)
Employment Type: Casual/Relief
Compensation: $26.00 - $35.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications
Shifts: As needed coverage for Day Shifts (7:00am - 3:00pm), Afternoon Shifts (3:00pm - 11:00 pm), and Nights (11:00pm - 7:00am), including weekends and holidays
About the Role
Casual Child and Youth Workers provide on-call and scheduled relief coverage for the residential program. This role is ideal for candidates who want flexible hours and enjoy stepping in to support youth and the team when additional coverage is needed (for example, vacation, sick calls, and periods of increased care needs).
Key Responsibilities
Provide safe, consistent supervision and support to children and youth during assigned shifts.
Follow established routines, plans of care, and behaviour support strategies.
Support daily living activities such as meals, hygiene, recreation, and bedtime routines.
Assist with crisis prevention and intervention using trauma-informed and least-intrusive approaches.
Complete shift documentation, logs, and incident reports as required.
Work collaboratively with full-time staff to ensure smooth shift handovers and continuity of care.
Adhere to all agency policies, including child protection, confidentiality, health and safety, and incident reporting.
Qualifications
Diploma in Child and Youth Care, Social Service Work, Social Work, Psychology, or related field; or current enrolment in a relevant program with directly related experience.
Experience working with children or youth in residential, community, school, camp, or similar environments.
Demonstrated ability to quickly integrate into established routines and teams.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
Mandatory Requirements
Availability to work a variety of shits (Day Shift 7:00am - 3:00pm, Afternoon Shift 3:00pm - 11:00pm, Night Shift 11:00pm - 7:00am, weekends, and holidays) on an as-needed basis.
Value First Aid & CPR Level C (or willingness to obtain prior to start).
Successful completion of a valid Broad Sector Check.
Successful completion of a Child Welfare Check.
Crisis intervention/behaviour management training (or willingness to complete upon hire).
